Circular Journey and RecyclingBazar

Worth stating clearly, because a research project run by someone with a commercial interest in the subject should say so on its own website rather than leave it to be discovered.

The relationship

RecyclingBazar is a recycling and waste management venture founded in India in 2017 by Vivek Kumar and Prashant Gautam, who are also the co-founders of Circular Journey.

The two are separate undertakings. Circular Journey is an independent research and knowledge-exchange initiative and publishes its findings openly. RecyclingBazar is a commercial business.

What they share is experience. The questions this research asks came out of practical work, and that work is the reason the framework concentrates on operating cost, informal sector livelihoods and what happens after the launch rather than on technology.

Where the line sits

  • Research findings are not commercial material.

Nothing published under Circular Journey is written to support a commercial position, and no case study will recommend a supplier.

  • Host organizations are not sales prospects.

Contact details and operational information shared with Circular Journey during a research visit are used for the research and nothing else. They are not passed to any commercial entity.

  • Any overlap gets declared on the page.

If a piece of research touches something RecyclingBazar has an interest in, that will be stated on the research itself, not buried here.

  • From local experience to global learning, and back.

The intended direction of travel: practical experience shapes the questions, international research widens the evidence, and the adaptation work brings it back to Indian conditions.
