  Vietnamese, Bahasa Indonesia, Malay, Thai, Japanese and Korean, for interviews and for translating research summaries back to the people who took part.

• Local knowledge

  Knowing which organization in your city actually runs the interesting thing, and who to write to.

• Transcription and captioning

  Slow, unglamorous, and the difference between a recording and a usable source.

• Source checking

  Verifying that a citation says what we claim it says. The single highest-value contribution to a project built on sourcing.

There is no volunteer programme, no structured internship and no field placement. Field research begins in 2027, and offering places on missions that have not been arranged would be promising something that does not exist.

If that changes it will be announced here rather than handled quietly through email.

Honest credit for work done, a reference if you need one, and the work itself. There is no payment, and pretending otherwise would waste your time as well as ours.
