Field journal
Written during missions rather than after them. Unpolished on purpose: the first impression of a system is often wrong, and it is more useful to have that on the record than to quietly replace it later.

The journal starts when the travelling does.
What will be in it
- What was actually seen that day, with times and places.
- Who was met, and what they said, where they agreed to be quoted.
- First impressions, marked as first impressions.
- What went wrong: the visits that fell through, the questions that got nowhere.
- Corrections to earlier entries, added rather than substituted.
Nothing that identifies a person or a site is published without permission, and no location is published where doing so could cause a problem for the people working there.
