Decentralised organic treatment at ward scale

Test small-scale organic treatment sited close to where the waste is produced, against the transport cost and load it is meant to avoid.

The adaptation

Ambient temperature, monsoon humidity and space constraint all differ from the source model. The question is whether decentralisation survives a wet season, not whether it works in March.

What will be measured

Agreed and published before anything starts. That sequence is the whole point: once results exist it is far too easy to decide, after the fact, which of them counted.

  1. 01Tonnes of organic material diverted from transport and landfill, weighed.
  2. 02Output quality and whether there is a genuine buyer at that quality.
  3. 03Odour and pest complaints from residents within 100 metres.
  4. 04Cost per tonne compared with the centralised alternative.
  5. 05Downtime during peak monsoon weeks.

Results

No results

This pilot has not started. When it does, results appear here whatever they show, including if the answer is that the model did not transfer.

Want to host this?

A pilot needs a municipality, a cooperative or a community organization that actually wants it. A pilot imposed on a ward that did not ask for it tells you nothing useful about whether the model works.

Get in touch if this is something your organization would consider from 2028.
